Hey popcorn lovers! Christopher Rolfson here from Kernel Kravings to bring you a few of my best tips for making delicious microwave popcorn with just the right amount of butter or oil.

  1. Start with Quality Corn Kernels - Make sure you start with the best corn kernels you can find. If you have access to it, opt for organic or non-GMO popcorn. Also, consider avoiding microwave popcorn bags and instead opt for loose kernels so you can control exactly how much and what kind of butter or oil you are using.

  2. Just Use a Little Butter or Oil - Don't go overboard on the butter and oil. A little bit goes a long way and you don't want to overpower the popcorn with too much fat. If you do decide to use butter, use a light variety, like a clarified butter, or a butter-flavored oil.

  3. Don't Overcook - Make sure you do not overcook the popcorn. You'll want to cook it for just the right amount of time so that it has that perfect crunch. Pay attention to the popping rate, and when the popping starts to slow down to just a few pops every few seconds, that's when you know it's done.

  4. Enhance with Herbs and Spices - Throw in some herbs and spices to give your popcorn an extra kick. Try oregano, garlic powder, or chili powder for a savory flavor, or cinnamon and nutmeg for a sweet flavor.

  5. Add Salt After Cooking - Too much salt during the cooking process can result in a bitter flavor. Instead, add salt after the popcorn is cooked. That way, you can adjust the salt level to your preference.
